El Rastro del Tacto (The Trace of Touch) is an installation composed of the documentary Rastros and a four-wall sculpture featuring the textiles that were present during the intense filming sessions of the documentary. It explores how video can become performative and alive by presenting a physical witness to digital images.
These fabrics are not merely material objects; they carry the imprints of women’s bodies — traces of breasts, skin, and presence — authentic marks of the natural, intimate, and courageous experiences that unfolded during filming. These traces are not fabricated; they are real, born of touch, memory, and action, embodying the rawness of human experience.
This work invites reflection on the fragility, strength, and endurance of both body and memory. It creates a dialog between the cinematic and the material worlds, connecting the visceral with the visual. In doing so, it fosters a deeper engagement with the intimate traces of women’s lives and the impact they leave behind. This piece was part of a collective exhibition titled “Tócate para que no te toque” during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The exhibition brought together diverse artistic expressions centered on themes of touch, womanhood, the breast, illness, and resistance.
