Rastros (Traces)
Rastros is a documentary that explores the wounds left on the body by various life events. Starting from the idea that memories are stored or leave trace within the body, the film follows 20 brave women who have experienced strong life events from breast cancer to abuse. These women voluntarily map their pain using clay and paint in front of the camera, undergoing an intense, transformative process that unfolds as they touch and connect with themselves. This documentary is a powerful call to acknowledge the unseen wounds held within our bodies—particularly in women—and the urgent need to reclaim touch as the first step beyond shame, taboo, societal standards, and inequality.
This project was made possible with the support of many women in collaboration with the Women’s Museum of Mexico City and published during the Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October 2024.
